Certification Requirements

Attend IET OSTEO 1 Course. Complete two (2) Case Studies and one (1) 30-minute video session with a horse using techniques learned in the course.

Attend IET OSTEO 2 Course. Complete two (2) Case Studies and one (1) 30-minute video session with a horse using techniques learned in the course. The case studies and video session need to be satisfactorily completed before attending IET OSTEO 3.

Attend IET OSTEO 3 Course. Complete two (2) Case Studies and one (1) 30-minute video session with a horse using techniques learned in the course.

Attend IET OSTEO 4 Course. Complete two (2) Case Studies and one (1) 30-minute video session with a horse using techniques learned in the course. The case studies and video session will need to be submitted and graded within 2 months of completing the last course.

Teach assist at one of the Advanced Osteopathic Courses, IET OSTEO 1-4. This requirement can be completed during steps 3 or 4.

Assistant positions are only open to students who have completed IET OSTEO 3, and students can only assist a course that they have already attended. For example, a student can assist IET OSTEO 1-3 if they have taken IET OSTEO 3, and they can assist in any of the OSTEO courses if they have taken IET OSTEO 4.

Schedule a date with Tom Mayes for your Final Practicum. The Practicum includes verbal, written and and hands on testing.

While assisting a course, Tom will evaluate the students techniques and understanding of Osteopathic Techniques learned in the courses.

Students who have satisfactorily completed all necessary requirements listed above will earn their Certification and become a IET Certified Advanced Equine Osteopathic Practitioner after passing the Final Practicum.
